Changes For Olive Branch

CHANGES FOR OLIVE BRANCH…

On Monday, May 4, 2020, Governor Reeves issued Executive Order #1478, which goes into effect Thursday, May 7, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. This Order lifts some restrictions regarding restaurants and parks. In short, restaurants will be allowed to resume in-house (indoor or outdoor) dining subject to restrictions listed within Executive Order #1478 I(a)(i-xxii). I encourage you to review the Order for details pertaining to the operation of restaurants.

The Order also allows us to reopen our City Parks, beginning Thursday, May 7, 2020, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., but with limitations as well. These limitations restrict outdoor gatherings of more than 20, and indoor gatherings of more than 10. In addition to the total number gathered in an area, individuals must maintain a minimum of 6 feet distance between each other. With these restrictions in mind, we will be opening our parks between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., however, the playground and Olive Bark Park (dog park) will remain closed at this time.

I encourage you to enjoy the parks responsibly. It’s important that we take care of ourselves, physically and mentally. Being able to enjoy the outdoors will help with both. If you are health compromised and/or 65 years of age, or older, I strongly encourage you to take extra precautions. Use a mask, avoid crowds, and if possible, have family and/or friends shop for your necessities. For those of us who have not reached the age of 65, and do not have underlying health conditions, I ask that you continue to check on those who may be in need. Volunteer to help if possible, and show kindness and compassion to those you come in contact with.

These are stressful times and I believe God has called us to be His hands and His feet. A kind word, friendly gesture, and a generous spirit provides relief to our neighbors, friends, and strangers alike. We are all in this together, and together we will come out of this stronger and more unified than ever. This is OB Pride at it’s finest.

God Bless,
Scott B. Phillips, Jr.
Mayor, City of Olive Branch
