What if I receive a ticket for no proof of insurance?

The State of Mississippi requires you to have proof of insurance in your car at all times. If you’re stopped and have insurance but do not have a card on your person, you can bring in your insurance to the Court Clerk’s office prior to your court date. If you are able to verify your insurance, a copy will be made for the file and the ticket will be dismissed. If your insurance card is on your phone or any other electronic device, you will need to bring in a printed copy of your card. If you do not purchase insurance, your driver’s license will be suspended for one year or until you provide proof to the Department of Public Safety in Jackson, MS.
