Mayor and Board of Aldermen Begin New Term

On Tuesday, July 1, 2025 Mayor Ken Adams and members of the Board of Aldermen were sworn in during the regularly scheduled Board of Aldermen Meeting in the Olive Branch Municipal Court Building. This ceremony marks the beginning of a four-year term for these elected officials. 

Members of the Board are as follows:

Alderman At-Large, George Collins

Ward 1, Gil Earhart

Ward 2, Pat Hamilton

Ward 3, Don Gammage

Ward 4, David Wallace

Ward 5,  Jan Aldridge

Ward 6, Dale Dickerson

Additionally, City Personnel was reappointed and sworn in, and members of the City’s Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Adjustment, Design Review Advisory Committee, and the Old Towne Design Review Advisory Committee were appointed.

We would like to take a moment to thank Alderwoman Joy Henderson for her service to the City of Olive Branch as Alderman for Ward 3 for the last 9 years and five months.  Alderwoman Henderson won a runoff election for Ward 3 in March of 2016 during a Special Election. Thank you Alderwoman Henderson for serving the residents of Ward 3 and the citizens of the City of Olive Branch. We wish you a great start to retirement.

City Hall and other buildings will be closed in observance of July 4th

Independence Day Closure

City Hall and other City Buildings will be closed in observance of Independence Day on Friday, July 4th. Emergency Services will not be affected. 
Friday Garbage Collection will be collected on Saturday, July 5th.  

Regarding Fireworks

A new ordinance regarding the discharge of fireworks was adopted by Mayor Ken Adams and the Board of Aldermen. Discharging, shooting, and/or igniting fireworks shall be allowed ONLY on the following dates and times:

  • JULY 2-5, between the hours of 4:00 pm and 10:00 pm
  • DECEMBER 23-26, between the hours of 4:00 pm and 10:00 pm
  • DECEMBER 30, between the hours of 4:00 pm and 10:00 pm
  • DECEMBER 31, between the hours of 4:00 pm and 12:15 am
  • JANUARY 1- 2, between the hours of 4:00 pm and 10:00 pm

Please be advised that the new law will be strictly enforced by the City of Olive Branch Police Department. The discharging, shooting, and/or igniting of fireworks within the City limits of Olive Branch is prohibited outside of these dates and/or times. Any individual violating this provision shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $100.00 for each occurrence.

Light the Way returns to City Park on Friday, July 4

Light the Way Concert/Fireworks

Light the Way returns to City Park on July 4th. The City’s fireworks show will start at the conclusion of this event. Both the concert and fireworks are free and open to the public.

Gates Open at 3pm. Event Starts at 4pm. 

Concert line up will feature Cain, Seph Schlueter, and Aaron Cole. The City’s fireworks show will start at the conclusion of this event. 

Nominations for Hall of Fame Close July 25

The nomination period is now open for the 2025 Olive Branch Hall of Fame. The general public is asked to participate in the nominating process by completing the form found on page 5 of the Spring newsletter.  You can find the Spring Newsletter in the Rotunda of City Hall or online at https://www.obms.us/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/88

You may submit the name of anyone you believe worthy of this honor, by mailing or hand-delivering the form to City Hall by Friday, July 25, 2025. Please have this nomination marked with: "Attention Hall of Fame". Anyone receiving at least one vote from last year's nominees has been carried forward for 2025 and, as such, does not need to be nominated again this year. The 2024 nominees carried forward are:

Forest Langston

Harold Nichols

Ken Reid

Gartha Wallace
