Olive Branch Fire Department's 2024 Pierce Ascendant with a 100-ft aerial tower apparatus was officially "Pushed In" today at Station 3 on Hacks Cross Road.
OBFD held the traditional push-in ceremony. The simulated act of pushing a new truck in, commemorates the old fire service, and is a symbol of dedication and unity that has driven the fire service for hundreds of years.
In the 17th century, early hand drawn engines, ladder wagons, and hose carts had to be pushed in by hand after every call. When the first motorized fire engine was put into service in the early 19th century, these firefighters continued to honor the push-in tradition. This was in an effort to pay homage to the firefighters that came before them.
